Invincible Season 4 makes changes to Tech Jacket

Invincible recently updated the character Tech Jacket in its latest episode. While the show generally stays true to the original comic book, it’s been making some deliberate changes to certain characters, and this is one of them.

The newest episode features Tech Jacket in a surprising twist: the character now appears as Zoe, a female version voiced by Zoey Deutch. This change, which fans had predicted, highlights how the series is updating the original story.

The character first appeared in the comics by Robert Kirkman and E.J. Su as Zack Thompson, a teenager who finds alien technology after a spaceship crashes. A dying alien attaches itself to him, forming a Tech Jacket suit that gives Zack superpowers – including increased strength, speed, and the ability to fly – and provides him with high-tech weapons.

This new version of Tech Jacket keeps the main concept of the story the same, but changes the main character’s background. In the original comics, Zack Thompson had already left college when he got involved in big, galactic adventures, making him seem older and more self-reliant. However, the series reimagines the character as Zoe, a high school student, making her much younger.

Despite the changes, Zoe still has the same confident and playfully arrogant personality we remember, which helps her fit in with the others. The show also focuses more on her relationships, especially with Allen, hinting at a deeper connection than we’ve seen before.
