The anime is premiering next week, and excitement has been building ever since the second trailer was released in February. To celebrate, artist Vandoesart has been independently making daily illustrations counting down the days until the show begins.
A new art trend is gaining popularity online. Starting on March 30th, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the Witch Hat Atelier anime began a project where manga artists and illustrators are contributing artwork to help promote the anime adaptation of Kamome Shirahama’s fantasy story.
Medalist Manga Author Creates a Support Illustration for Witch Hat Atelier’s Anime Debut
The creator of the Medalist manga, Tsurumaikada, was the first artist to contribute supporting illustrations for Witch Hat Atelier. The anime’s official X account shared Tsurumaikada’s artwork, which depicts the characters Coco, Qifrey, and Agott flying with their sylph shoes. The illustration showcases bright magic and colors that match the beautiful animation style of the Witch Hat Atelier adaptation by BUG FILMS.
Tsurumaikada’s artwork beautifully portrays the enchanting world that captivated Coco, and also shows the artist’s appreciation for their fellow creator’s work. The characters’ expressions perfectly reflect their personalities, and the tender way Coco and Agott reach for each other’s hands is a particularly heartwarming detail.
I’m always thrilled to see artists collaborate and create fan art inspired by shows they love! It’s a fantastic way to build excitement, and we actually saw a similar thing happen earlier this year with Medalist. The amazing Shirahama even contributed a beautiful illustration, which they shared on the official Medalist anime X account – it was such a cool way to show support and get everyone hyped!
The artwork Shirahama created for Medalist, released in February during the anime’s second season, shows Inori Yuitsuka skating with her friend and competitor, Hikaru Kamisaki. The illustration beautifully captures their love for skating, making their performance on the ice feel as enchanting as the stories in Witch Hat Atelier.
The Illustration Project Highlights Witch Hat Atelier as the Next Big Fantasy Anime
The anime and manga world is highly competitive, like any entertainment industry. But it’s wonderful to see artists supporting each other. It’s both reassuring and inspiring that creators can still appreciate and admire each other’s work, even while competing.
I’m absolutely captivated by the artwork from this support illustration project! It really gets to the heart of what makes Medalist and Witch Hat Atelier so special. Both stories are just stunning, focusing on these incredible young characters and their journeys to achieve something meaningful. What I love most is seeing the heroines connect with other girls who are also growing and learning – it’s not just about competition, but a real sense of respect and admiration between them.
Similar to the support for Season 2 of Medalist, many artists are contributing beautiful artwork to celebrate the upcoming anime release of Witch Hat Atelier, eagerly anticipating the premiere alongside fans like Vandoesart.
Production on the Witch Hat Atelier anime started in 2022, and excitement for it has been building quickly lately. The recent announcement of a special release coinciding with the anime’s debut has created a huge buzz among its already large international fanbase – the manga has sold over 7.5 million copies worldwide!
Crunchyroll has been regularly updating fans on the upcoming Witch Hat Atelier anime, and those who recently finished enjoying Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 are especially excited for its release.
Witch Hat Atelier is set to premiere on Crunchyroll on Monday, April 6, at 7:00am PT/10:00am ET.
