Netflix Reveals First Look at The Adventures of Cliff Booth

Wow, can you believe it’s been seven years since Quentin Tarantino last directed a movie? Once Upon a Time in Hollywood came out way back in 2019! I’m really excited because we’re finally getting something new from that world later this year, although this time, David Fincher is actually the one in the director’s chair – Tarantino wrote it, but let Fincher take over the directing.

A new movie continuing the story of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth, is coming to Netflix. While David Fincher is directing, Quentin Tarantino wrote the script and Brad Pitt will return as Cliff Booth. A short trailer was shown during the Super Bowl in February, but wasn’t released online, meaning many fans didn’t get to see it. However, a collection of images from the film have recently been released online, and you can view them below.

Brad Pitt Returns as Cliff Booth

I’m really excited to see Timothy Olyphant reprise his role as James Stacy – he was fantastic in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and it’s great to have him back. The cast around him is shaping up to be incredible too, with Scott Caan, known from Ocean’s Eleven, and Elizabeth Debicki, who wowed audiences in The Crown. Plus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Candyman), Carla Gugino (The Haunting of Hill House), Holt McCallany (Creepshow 2), the iconic Peter Weller from RoboCop, and Corey Fogelmanis (Girl Meets World) are all joining the project. It’s a seriously impressive lineup!

Creating The Adventures of Cliff Booth is proving to be a major investment. Director Quentin Tarantino has announced a $200 million budget, making it his most expensive film to date. For comparison, his previous movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, cost less than $100 million to make. This indicates the new film will be significantly more ambitious and large in scale.

Netflix hasn’t announced when the movie will be released, but it will likely be soon. Filming finished in January, after beginning last summer.

Quentin Tarantino’s Next Directed Film Will Be His Last

Quentin Tarantino isn’t directing the sequel himself because he’s being very selective about his tenth and final film. He wants to choose the perfect project to end his directing career with. He had previously planned a movie called The Movie Critic as his last, but he cancelled it before filming began. He hasn’t announced what film will take its place yet.

I loved the writing itself, but I became less enthusiastic about turning it into a visual experience once we started preparing for filming,” Tarantino shared on the The Church of Tarantino podcast.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth does not yet have a release date.
