Apple TV+ has found success with its science fiction series like Severance and Silo. Surprisingly, though, a show that isn’t sci-fi at all is now the most popular on the platform. While Apple TV+ doesn’t have a huge number of original shows, many of them are excellent. In 2023, the platform released Shrinking, a comedy that some are calling even better than Ted Lasso. Now in its third season, Shrinking is quickly becoming the most-watched show on Apple TV+, surpassing even the popularity of Severance and Silo.
With just two episodes remaining in its current season, Silo continues to perform well on streaming charts. Currently, Shrinking is the most popular show on Apple TV+, and it’s been in the top 10 for an impressive 645 days. Severance has dropped to ninth place, but it’s still hanging on. Unfortunately, Silo is no longer in the top 10.
Created by Brett Goldstein, Bill Lawrence, and Jason Segel, Shrinking centers around a team of therapists dealing with their own personal struggles. The show stars Jason Segel as Jimmy, who’s been grieving the loss of his wife for the past two years. While trying a bold new method in his therapy practice, Jimmy begins to rebuild his own life and support those around him – his coworkers, friends, and especially his teenage daughter.
‘Shrinking’s Cast Repeatedly Outperforms Each Other
The cast of ‘Shrinking’ is exceptional. Every actor delivers a standout performance, constantly upstaging each other. Lukita Maxwell is fantastic as Jimmy’s daughter, Alice, but she’s just the beginning. Michael Urie shines as their friend Brian, though Jessica Williams as Gaby is even more impressive, and Chris Miller as Liz is also a highlight. Ultimately, Harrison Ford as the experienced therapist Paul is the most captivating performer.
Critics and viewers alike have responded positively to the show. Shrinking currently has a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences agree, giving it an 87% score. One viewer recently commented on the latest season, saying, “Each season of Shrinking continues to get better and better.”
‘Shrinking’ Season 4 Is Already in the Works
With only two episodes left in season three of Shrinking, fans are understandably anxious about the wait for more. The good news is the show will be back! Shrinking has been renewed for a fourth season. While initially conceived as a three-season series, creator Bill Lawrence has decided to continue the story, with season three kicking off a new three-season arc.
