Isabelle Tate, known for her role in the ABC series 9-1-1: Nashville, has died at the age of 23. Her death was confirmed last week, and the cause has recently been reported. Tate appeared in the pilot episode of 9-1-1: Nashville, which aired on October 9, 2025, and she filmed her scenes for the show in June of this year. She passed away on October 19, 2025.
According to Entertainment Weekly, actor Tate Donovan died from a rare neurological condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, which affects nerve signal transmission. His representative, Kim McCray of The McCray Agency, said he “passed away peacefully,” and the family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is a long-term condition that gradually causes muscles to weaken and reduces sensation. Tate publicly shared her diagnosis in 2022, explaining that it would progressively affect the strength in her legs. Viewers noticed she was using a wheelchair while appearing on the show 9-1-1: Nashville due to the condition.
According to McCray, Tate’s family requests that those wishing to honor her memory make donations to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, a nonprofit organization working to find a cure for CMT and support people living with the condition. The next episode of 9-1-1 Nashville will also feature a memorial tribute to Tate during the broadcast.
Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is a rare condition that affects roughly 1 in 2,500 people in the United States. It can develop at any age. Country music star Alan Jackson, age 67, revealed his diagnosis in 2021 and plans to conclude his touring career with a final concert on June 27, 2026, due to the disease. Though most people with CMT live a normal lifespan, serious and life-threatening complications are possible in rare cases.
In the TV show 9-1-1: Nashville, Tate played Julie in the first episode. Julie was a customer watching a dancer, Blue (Hunter McVey), perform at a bar. Someone was blocking her view, so Blue kindly came offstage and gave her a private dance. However, this got him in trouble because private dances are against the law in that city.
According to her obituary, actress Tate landed her first role on the show 9-1-1: Nashville after attending just one audition. Beyond acting, she was passionate about music and enjoyed writing and recording songs with her friends. Those who knew her remember her as a vibrant and uplifting person, always brightening the days of her sister and mother.
