5 MCU Lego Sets That Intentionally Misled Fans

LEGO often gives fans sneak peeks into upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, which might include potential spoilers like the appearance of Galactus in Fantastic Four. On certain occasions, a LEGO set has led viewers astray about the characters and events in Marvel’s most recent productions, causing many to be deceived by it.

Marvel Studios may have provided LEGO with early concept art, taken creative liberties, or left out crucial information, resulting in the production of various sets over the years that depicted characters, locations, battles, and designs not featured in the final films. Some of these sets are particularly infamous, as they led fans to believe incorrectly about what to expect from eagerly awaited movies like Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

5 LEGO Sets That Fooled MCU Fans

76008: Iron Man vs. The Mandarin: Ultimate Showdown

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I must say that the LEGO version of Iron Man 3’s climactic battle between Tony Stark and the Mandarin is a thrilling representation of what could have been! The set includes an intricately designed armored car for the Mandarin, equipped with a rotating flamethrower, adding to the action-packed atmosphere.

However, in the 2013 movie, this intense showdown between Iron Man and the Mandarin never quite unfolded as depicted in this LEGO set. In fact, the film took an unexpected turn, revealing that the Mandarin wasn’t the true antagonist of Iron Man 3 after all! This LEGO set is a fantastic tribute to the exciting battle conceptualized by fans, even if it doesn’t align perfectly with the movie’s plot twists.

76039: Ant-Man Final Battle

This 2015 LEGO set featuring Ant-Man’s showdown against Yellowjacket, complete with missiles, stud shooters, a catapult, and of course, ants, may not be as misleading as Iron Man versus The Mandarin. Nevertheless, it tricked fans by including a Minifigure resembling Michael Douglas’ character Hank Pym. However, in the film, Hank does not don the Ant-Man suit.

76124: War Machine Buster

One of the LEGO sets on the list that’s quite disappointing is the War Machine Buster from “Avengers: Endgame”. The 2019 collectible model portrays Rhodey in a War Machine Buster suit, complete with various weapons and accompanied by Ant-Man and Outrider Minifigures. However, this specific set is misleading in many ways because Rhodey didn’t actually use the War Machine Buster suit in “Endgame”. In fact, he was seen wearing an Iron Patriot suit during the final battle of the movie instead.

76185: Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop

The LEGO set based on the movie Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021 was mostly accurate, portraying the Sanctum Workshop’s basement correctly and featuring characters like Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Wong, and MJ. However, it made an error by including a large bug monster with claws, a creature not found in the actual movie.

76207: Attack on New Asgard

As a devoted fan, I must admit that LEGO’s rendition of the Shadow Monster from this year’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” truly captivated me with its intricate design featuring jointed arms and menacing claws. The Minifigs of Thor, Mighty Thor, and Gorr, who summons these colossal creatures in the movie, added an extra layer of excitement. However, I found myself a bit taken aback by this particular Shadow Monster’s appearance as it deviates significantly from the version portrayed in the film, leaving many fans like me with high expectations wondering if LEGO might have missed the mark.
