Now is a fantastic time to be a PlayStation Plus member. With Microsoft significantly raising the price of Xbox Game Pass, the games available through PlayStation Plus – including the monthly free titles – offer incredible value for your money.
With so many games to choose from, deciding what to play can be tough. While your subscription gives you access to hundreds of titles, here are three excellent choices for this weekend: the first game in a popular samurai series (a sequel just came out!), the last installment in a well-known first-person shooter franchise (with a new release today!), and a spooky game added to the free monthly selection.
Ghost of Tsushima is a Must-Play if You Haven’t Experienced it Already
Especially if You Ever Intend on Playing Ghost of Yotei
As a huge fan, I can honestly say that *Ghost of Tsushima* is one of the most beautiful and impactful games ever set in feudal Japan. You play as Jin Sakai, a samurai who has to make some really tough choices and abandon tradition when the Mongols invade. The world they created is absolutely stunning – I still remember being blown away by the golden forests and the stark battlefields. Whether you’re revisiting it or playing for the first time, it’s a true gem in the PlayStation library and a fantastic way to get ready for the new game!
What truly sets *Ghost of Tsushima* apart isn’t just how it plays, but how it *feels*. Each fight and challenge is carefully designed, encouraging players to become skilled with the sword while also using stealth and strategy. Instead of relying on on-screen directions, the game uses natural elements like the wind to guide you, making the world feel truly immersive. It’s a game that values taking your time, exploring, and appreciating skillful play, and it still feels fresh and engaging even after five years.
With a PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium membership, you can play *Ghost of Tsushima*, which now includes all the content from the Director’s Cut – like the Iki Island expansion and the Legends online co-op mode.
Prepare for Battlefield 6 with the Much-Improved Battlefield 2042
EA Made Lots of Changes Over the Years
I have to admit, when *Battlefield 2042* first came out in 2021, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. But honestly, over the last couple of years, DICE and EA have been working hard, constantly updating the game based on what players like me were saying. It’s become a really solid multiplayer shooter, especially now that it’s on PlayStation Plus! Going back to *Battlefield 2042* now is actually amazing – it’s a great example of how a game can really turn things around with dedication and by listening to its community. The improvements are fantastic, and the multiplayer is a blast!
Okay, so I’ve been playing a lot of Battlefield 2042 lately, and honestly, it’s really turned things around. Those huge 128-player battles are still insane, and the dynamic weather – like buildings falling apart and even tornadoes – makes every round feel totally different and unpredictable. They’ve also revamped the classes, which is awesome. It feels way more tactical now, and it brings back that team play that I loved in older Battlefield games. They definitely learned from the launch issues. If you’re into big, chaotic battles where anything can happen, Battlefield 2042 is actually a really solid and fun experience now.
You can play *Battlefield 2042* if you have a PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium membership. It’s included in the game catalog and lets you access the standard version of the game. Keep in mind that this is a multiplayer shooter that requires an internet connection, and it doesn’t have a single-player story mode.
Alan Wake 2 is One of the Best Modern Horror Games Ever
This Game Will Make You Question Everything
October is the perfect time for spooky games, and Alan Wake 2, the long-awaited sequel from Remedy Entertainment, definitely delivers. Building on the success of the original 2010 game, this sequel is much bigger and more immersive, combining a gripping story, intense horror, and a cinematic style for a truly haunting experience. It’s now included with the PlayStation Plus lineup for October 2025, making it essential for fans of story-rich games with a dark and atmospheric vibe. Alan Wake 2 is a great addition to the season’s best horror titles.
The game lets you play as two characters: Alan Wake, a writer haunted by his own nightmares, and Saga Anderson, an FBI agent solving strange, supernatural crimes. This back-and-forth between the two stories creates a unique pace, blending detective work with Alan’s inner turmoil, and it’s done exceptionally well. The game’s environments are packed with creepy details – like flickering lights and mysterious messages – building a constant sense of unease that stays with you even after you stop playing.
PlayStation Plus members can now enjoy a spooky new game as part of their subscription, just in time for Halloween! All PlayStation Plus tiers – Essential, Extra, and Premium – are eligible to claim it, but you need to add it to your library before the end of the month.
