Over three seasons, the series follows Aang as he trains to fulfill his destiny while navigating a war with the Fire Nation.

Although Phineas and Ferb was a strong candidate, Avatar: The Last Airbender is truly a beautifully animated series. Despite being aimed at kids, the show tackles surprisingly complex topics like imperialism, dealing with trauma, troubled families, feeling like an outsider, loneliness, and even feminist ideas.

Despite some serious moments, the show is genuinely funny and hopeful, offering a welcome balance. The characters, even though they’re made up and relatively young, feel realistic and are easy to connect with. Zuko’s journey from villain to hero is especially well-done – one of the best on television. While the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation has its strengths, it doesn’t quite measure up to the original animated series.
