With so many options available on Netflix, choosing something to watch can be overwhelming. However, these three movies are definitely worth adding to your list. After starting as a DVD-by-mail company, Netflix successfully shifted to streaming and quickly became a leader in the industry.
As a huge movie and TV fan, I have to say Netflix has become my go-to for pretty much everything I want to watch – they seriously have a ton of stuff! And their original shows and movies? They’ve really changed the game for streaming. Honestly, with so much to choose from, it can be overwhelming! But thankfully, a few movies really rise to the top and make it easier to decide what to watch.
3. She’s Gotta Have It (1986)
Spike Lee’s first film, She’s Gotta Have It, marked the arrival of an exciting new director and was also a truly original romantic comedy. The story centers on a woman who’s exploring relationships with several different men, trying to find the right fit. This low-budget film stood out from other ’80s rom-coms, largely thanks to Lee’s unique vision as a director.
Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It stands out with its fast-paced editing and fun storytelling, avoiding typical movie tropes. While many consider it an important film, its simple pleasures often get missed. The characters feel real and engaging, and at just 88 minutes long, it’s a great choice for a quick watch on streaming.
2. The Mitchells Vs. The Machines (2021)
One of the biggest disappointments of the early 2020s in Hollywood was The Mitchells vs. the Machines, which had everything needed to be a success. The movie follows a family on a road trip to drop their daughter off at college, but their journey is interrupted when a robot apocalypse begins. With a unique, beautifully hand-painted watercolor style, this 2021 film is a true visual treat.
Beyond being visually appealing, The Mitchells vs. the Machines is a wonderfully made story full of warmth and emotion. While it offers insightful commentary on the potential downsides of technology, the film’s central message focuses on the importance of family and making amends. It’s enjoyable for everyone, making it a perfect choice for a family movie night on Netflix.
1. No Time To Die (2021)
Daniel Craig finished his run as James Bond with the film No Time to Die. The movie shows Bond coming out of retirement to save a scientist who has been kidnapped by a dangerous new enemy. After playing the iconic superspy for 15 years, Craig delivers a smooth and natural performance.
The latest James Bond film, No Time to Die, has received mixed reactions, mainly because it makes some bold choices with the story and characters. While it’s a solid action movie on its own, it’s especially worth watching as the newest installment in the Bond series. You can find all the Bond films, including No Time to Die, on Netflix.
