Corey Feldman, the actor who rose to fame as a child, has revealed he won’t be attending the Oscars to celebrate the work of director Rob Reiner. Feldman, 54, shared a long post on X, formerly known as Twitter, suggesting he was excluded from the tribute due to his outspokenness about sexual assault in Hollywood. This comes after reports in the tabloids claimed Feldman was very upset and disappointed about not being invited.
As a big movie fan, I remember Stand By Me from 1986 – it was a fantastic coming-of-age film directed by Rob Reiner and really resonated with audiences and critics. It even got an Oscar nomination for its screenplay! Apparently, according to the Daily Mail, the Academy invited Feldman’s co-stars, Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton, to a planned event honoring the film, but, shockingly, they didn’t invite Corey Feldman himself. It’s a bit of a strange situation, honestly.
On Friday, Feldman strongly suggested something was happening, and then clarified it wasn’t about him. He emphasized that it was about mourning the loss of their friend, Rob Reiner, and honoring his memory.

I’m still reeling from the tragic news out of Los Angeles. On December 14th, veteran film editor Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found murdered in their home, victims of multiple stab wounds. It’s incredibly sad, and made even more heartbreaking by the fact that their son, 32-year-old Nick, has been charged with their murders. He’s pleaded not guilty, but the situation is just devastating for everyone involved.
Feldman asked his supporters to stop their efforts to get him included in the awards show, explaining that it was distracting from the focus on Reiner. He posted, “Please take down any petitions asking for me to be at the awards. Will and Jerry have got this covered, and I’m sure they’ll do a fantastic job!”

As a longtime movie fan, it’s been really disturbing to hear what’s come out since the Me Too movement. Corey Feldman has been incredibly brave in speaking up about abuse in Hollywood, particularly concerning the late Corey Haim. He’s alleged that Charlie Sheen sexually assaulted Haim on the set of ‘Lucas’ back in ’86, and even more shockingly, Feldman has claimed Haim himself abused him while they were filming ‘The Lost Boys’ the following year. It’s awful to think about these things happening behind the scenes of films we grew up with.
