Miley Cyrus is bringing back her famous character Hannah Montana after 14 years, giving her the chance to live a double life again – just like in the show!
Running from 2006 to 2011, Hannah Montana was a huge hit for Disney, becoming a billion-dollar franchise and launching Miley Cyrus to international stardom. The show was Disney Channel’s most-watched program, earning Emmy nominations and spawning five albums, two concert tours, and a movie.
Disney has released a trailer for a special celebrating the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana. The special, coming to Disney+ on March 24th – exactly 20 years after the show first aired – will include appearances from beloved cast members like Billy Ray Cyrus. It promises never-before-seen footage, a look behind the scenes at sets and props, and a revisit to some of the most memorable moments from the series, with commentary from Cyrus.
For me, Hannah Montana will always be a really important part of my life. It began as a TV show, but it grew into something we all shared, impacting not just me but so many fans. I’m incredibly grateful for that connection, and I’m proud that it still resonates with people after all this time. This ‘Hannahversary’ is how I want to show my appreciation and celebrate 20 years with the fans who have supported me.
This special will be filmed with a live audience and hosted by Alex Cooper, the host of the Call Her Daddy podcast. The original show centered around Miley Stewart, a typical teenager in Malibu, California, who led a secret double life as the pop star Hannah Montana. She constantly juggled the challenges of school and friends with the demands of being a celebrity.
As a big fan of the original Hannah Montana, I always loved the cast! Emily Osment was fantastic as Lilly, and Mitchel Musso really nailed Oliver. Of course, Billy Ray Cyrus played Hannah’s dad, Robby, perfectly, and Jason Earles was hilarious as Jackson. Even Moisés Arias as Rico was a standout! The show also had some amazing guest stars – Dolly Parton, Selena Gomez, the Jonas Brothers, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Ashley Tisdale, and Lisa Rinna all made appearances. Now, with the special coming up, everyone’s wondering which of these familiar faces will be back, but so far, nothing’s been officially announced.
Hannah Montana’s 20th Anniversary Special will be available to stream on March 24 on Disney+.
