As a huge film and TV fan, I’ve seen K-dramas absolutely explode in popularity over the last five years! It’s amazing – there’s so much more to watch now, and a lot of it is seriously addictive. Streaming services have really taken notice, bringing over classic shows and investing in brand new ones made for audiences all over the world. What I love is that K-dramas cover every genre you can think of, so there really is something for everyone to enjoy.
Most K-dramas typically have 16 to 20 episodes, each lasting an hour, making them perfect for watching a little at a time. But some of the best K-dramas are different – they have fewer episodes or are shorter overall, without losing any of their quality.
Need a show to watch all in one go? Here are 10 great options perfect for a day-long binge.
10. One Day Off
Total Runtime: 3 Hours & 17 Minutes
If you’re looking for a cozy and heartwarming show, check out the K-drama One Day Off. It’s great to watch all at once or slowly over several days – either way is enjoyable! The story takes place in the 1990s and centers around Park Ha-kyung, a teacher who dedicates her Saturdays to exploring new places. She tries different foods, connects with interesting people, and discovers more about life along the way.
Despite its straightforward story, One Day Off is a truly wonderful film. Lee Na-young delivers a remarkably realistic and captivating performance as Ha-kyung, portraying her as a fully developed character with both vulnerabilities and aspirations. The film also boasts stunning visuals.
The show tackles difficult subjects, but handles them with remarkable sensitivity and kindness, making it surprisingly uplifting. And with only eight episodes, it’s a quick and engaging watch.
9. Soundtrack #1
Total Runtime: 3 Hours & 12 Minutes
Soundtrack #1 is a light and easy-to-watch romantic show. It centers around Han Seon-woo, a photographer, and Lee Eun-soo, a lyricist, who have been best friends for two decades. They decide to live together to collaborate on music, and a sweet romance gradually blossoms between them.
Soundtrack #1 is a straightforward friends-to-lovers K-drama centered around music. It’s not overly complicated and sticks to the main storyline, but it executes everything it tries very effectively.
The connection between Seon-woo and Eun-soo is beautifully developed throughout the series, following a satisfying path. Their playful conversations and the show’s music enhance their romance, and the actors share a convincing chemistry that grows with each episode. In the end, Soundtrack #1 is a straightforward yet charming love story.
8. My Name
Total Runtime: 6 Hours & 35 Minutes
Netflix’s My Name is a thrilling revenge story filled with mystery and action. It centers on Yoon Ji-woo, a woman who joins a criminal organization to avenge her father’s death. Under the group’s direction, she goes undercover as a police officer to uncover the truth behind what happened.
Han So-hee, as Ji-woo, is captivating to watch, even during the show’s toughest scenes. Her fight choreography is beautifully done and feels like a true art form.
As a thriller fan, I was completely hooked by this show! It’s incredibly intense, with a really raw and unsettling visual style that just pulls you in. And the story? Forget about it – it’s full of twists that genuinely caught me off guard, but in the best way. Honestly, if you love a good, gripping thriller, My Name is a must-watch.
7. Semantic Error
Total Runtime: 3 Hours & 7 Minutes
Based on a hit webtoon, Semantic Error is a charming Korean drama about a blossoming romance. The story centers on Choo Sang-woo, a meticulous computer science student, and Jang Jae-young, a popular design student. Initially, they butt heads while collaborating on a school project, but their friction soon gives way to romantic feelings.
If you like romantic comedies where opposites attract, you’ll probably enjoy Semantic Error. It uses familiar tropes of the genre, but the clever writing and skillful direction keep it fresh and entertaining. The playful back-and-forth between the characters is lively and never feels slow.
The leads, Park Seoham and Park Jae-chan, have amazing chemistry, making you really root for their characters. Plus, Semantic Error features some of the most genuinely satisfying kiss scenes I’ve seen in a romantic Korean drama.
6. The Most Beautiful Goodbye
Total Runtime: 4 Hours & 41 Minutes
If you love K-dramas and are looking for a touching story, you shouldn’t miss The Most Beautiful Goodbye. This short series begins with a woman receiving a heartbreaking cancer diagnosis. Over four episodes, it follows her family as they come together to support her during her final month.
If you were a fan of This Is Us, then get ready to feel all the feels with The Most Beautiful Goodbye. Seriously, this show delivers the same emotional rollercoaster – one minute you’re laughing, the next you’re reaching for the tissues. What really struck me was how realistically messy and loving the relationships were. The writing is fantastic, and the actors absolutely nailed the complexities of family – showing us that love and dysfunction often go hand-in-hand.
While the show can be difficult to watch, it’s surprisingly engaging, which reflects its focus on contrasting ideas. The good news is that The Most Beautiful Goodbye is available to watch for free on Roku, with ads, so almost anyone can see it.
5. The Witch’s Diner
Total Runtime: 5 Hours & 50 Minutes
This captivating K-drama explores the question of how far people would go to get what they truly desire. The Witch’s Diner centers around Jeong-Jin and Jo Hee Ra, who run a restaurant that serves meals with the power to grant wishes. However, those wishes always come with a significant and often painful price for the customers.
As a movie and TV lover, I was really impressed with The Witch’s Diner. Everything – the atmosphere, the acting, and the music – was just excellent. What I especially appreciated was how well it wove together the stories of all the different customers with the main storyline. It’s a show that feels really full and satisfying because it blends those smaller, individual tales with the bigger, seasonal arc – it never feels like filler.
The characters of Jeong-Jin and Hee Ra are also compelling and easy to root for. Plus, Hee Ra’s beautiful costumes and makeup are a delightful bonus to an already fantastic series.
4. Parasyte: The Grey
Total Runtime: 4 Hours & 57 Minutes

The K-drama Parasyte: The Grey is a thrilling and often gruesome show filled with intense action. It’s about a group of people who battle alien parasites that have invaded Earth and are taking control of humans. The series is part of the Parasyte universe, building on the story and world originally created by Hitoshi Iwaaki.
Even though it’s based on an existing series, Parasyte: The Grey feels original. It introduces interesting new characters and offers a fresh take on the idea of alien parasites, successfully avoiding simply repeating elements from earlier versions of the story.
Plus, the show’s visual effects and action are really engaging, making it hard to stop watching. The creators skillfully blended over-the-top moments with genuinely creepy horror, especially when depicting the body horror elements. Overall, Parasyte: The Grey delivers on the promise of the original series.
3. Light On Me
Total Runtime: 3 Hours & 47 Minutes
Few things are as heartwarming as a first love story, and the K-drama Light on Me delivers just that. The show follows Tae-kyung, a student who’s a bit of a loner, as he tries to make friends by joining the student council. However, he soon discovers that his growing feelings for the student council president, Da On, might make forming those friendships a little complicated.
The characters in Light on Me might seem like familiar types at first, but they’re surprisingly complex. Thanks to strong writing and great performances, you quickly become invested in their stories.
The show skillfully uses familiar story elements, but also keeps you guessing with unexpected twists – especially with its well-developed love triangle. Overall, Light on Me is a fast-paced and fun series that’s easy to rewatch when you’re looking for some light entertainment.
2. The School Nurse Files
Total Runtime: 5 Hours & 2 Minutes
Looking for a K-drama the whole family can enjoy? Netflix’s The School Nurse Files is a great choice. It’s about a school nurse who secretly defends students from strange, blob-like monsters that only she can see. It’s definitely a quirky and unusual story!
This isn’t your typical fantasy show – it’s delightfully strange. The story and characters lean into the weirdness, treating even the most illogical events as if they’re perfectly ordinary. And surprisingly, it doesn’t feel the need to explain any of it, which is a welcome change for a show this unusual.
If you’re willing to go with it and enjoy the strange atmosphere, you’ll likely be captivated by The School Nurse Files.
1. Death’s Game
Total Runtime: 6 Hours & 57 Minutes
Adapting a comic book into a live-action series and pleasing existing fans is usually very difficult. But in 2024, Prime Video managed to do just that with the popular webtoon comic Death’s Game. Both the comic and the TV show center around Choi Yee-jae, a man who attempts suicide and finds himself trapped in a game with Death itself.
Yee-jae didn’t appreciate the value of life, which angered Death. As punishment, Death forces him to play a dangerous game: he’s reborn twelve times into the bodies of people on the brink of death. If Yee-jae can survive each life, he gets to continue living it. But if he fails and dies in all twelve lives, he’ll be sent to hell.
This thriller is full of exciting action that will keep you hooked, but it’s also surprisingly emotional. Death’s Game offers both beautiful and heartbreaking lessons, and you might even find yourself sympathizing with the villain, Death, just as much as you root for the main character, Yee-jae.
